1787 George III 'Spade' Half Guinea
A Classic Gold Half-Guinea . . .
The 22ct George III Half-Guinea was the predecessor of the modern Sovereign, and one of many superb gold coins issued during the reign of "mad" King George III.
Minted between 1787 and 1799, this was the second of three designs used on the reverse of the Half-Guinea. The obverse is the fifth laurel head and designed by Lewis Pingo who was the chief engraver for the Royal Mint at this time.
Guineas are a very sort after addition to collectors as they are very beautiful and RARE.
