The Last Gold Guinea . . .
The 22ct George III 'Spade' Guinea was the predecessor of the modern Sovereign, and was the last guinea to be issued for general circulation. It is known as the 'Spade' Guinea because of the shovel shaped shield on the reverse.
The full guinea spade design was only minted between 1787 and 1799 for this monarchy reign, which makes it highly sought-after by collectors.
