1816 King George III Half Crown - Bull Head
A striking Georgian coin . . .
When first introduced, the Half-Crown carried a surprisingly robust depiction of the King, with a quartered-shield reverse. The so-called “Bull’s Head” Half-Crown was quickly replaced with a more attractive portrait of the King wearing the laurel wreath.
New steam powered machinery made the new coinage in the last few years of King George III reign more defined.
