Maundy Thursday...

Religious Church of England event held every Thursday before Good Friday. Maundy Money was first stuck in denominations of 1 penny, 2 pence, 3 pence and 4 pence.

Circulated coinage was used until 1800's, until four Maundy Coins were struck as noticeable non-circulation pieces. The obverse design of the coins depicts the reigning monarch.

The reverse depicts the crowned numeral almost encapsulated by a wreath which was first used during the reign of King William III and Queen Mary II.
